Gene and Carolyn King Funds Established at Community Foundation

FREDERICK, MD – January 6, 2021: To support emergency medical services and historic preservation, The Gene and Carolyn King Fund for Mount Airy Emergency Medical Services and The Gene and Carolyn King Pine Grove Chapel Endowment Fund have been established with The Community Foundation of Frederick County. These funds become two of the more than 740 component funds of the Community Foundation.

Founded by Mrs. King through her estate provisions, The Gene and Carolyn King Fund for Mount Airy Emergency Medical Services was created to support Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Department for training, equipment, and general operating costs for providing emergency medical services, but not for general fire protection.

The Gene and Carolyn King Pine Grove Chapel Endowment Fund, also founded by Mrs. King through her estate provisions, was established to support Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy for restoration, maintenance, and upkeep of the historic chapel.

Mr. and Mrs. King cared deeply about these causes and the two funds in their name will provide important support services for generations to come.
