Founded by parents Steven P. and Mary Rebecca Murray for grants to youth, high school and college baseball programs, and scholarships to Frederick County graduating seniors who played varsity baseball and softball.

Ryan Murray was a graduate of Linganore High School, class of 2006. He was a freshman at Mars Hill College at the time of his death. He was an accomplished baseball player and had played the position of catcher both at Linganore and Mars Hill College. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach. To honor his memory, his family established The Ryan Patrick Murray Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships to Frederick County graduating seniors preferably those who participated in a varsity baseball program.
