Founded by family members to provide scholarships for Brunswick High School graduating seniors with preference given to those participating in baseball.
Mr. Preston Tarleton loved baseball. His baseball career began early in life as a Brunswick Little League player, and then with the MARVA Babe Ruth team. At Brunswick High School, Mr. Tarleton played for four years as a member of the varsity team, followed by four years with the Shenandoah Hornets baseball team at Shenandoah College (now Shenandoah University). He was also an avid fisherman, enjoyed attending concerts and spending time with his family and friends. Sadly, at the young age of 23, Mr. Tarleton passed away in April 2010. To honor Mr. Tarleton’s memory, Don and James Tarleton, Mr. Tarleton’s Uncles, established The Preston Tarleton Memorial Fund. This Fund will provide scholarships to Brunswick High School graduating seniors, with preference given to seniors participating in baseball and who plan to continue their involvement in the sport at the post-secondary level.
