Founded by Mr. Fisher to support Frederick Health Hospital, Hood College and YMCA of Frederick County.
Alden Fisher was a lifelong member of the Frederick community. He was a graduate of Frederick schools and Mercersburg Academy before attending the University of Baltimore Business School. Mr. Fisher served in World War II and returned to Frederick where he took over the family business, A.E. Fisher Plumbing and Heating. In 1959, he started Fisher Real Estate. Mr. Fisher was dedicated to many local organizations, including Hood College, Frederick YMCA and Frederick Health Hospital. The Alden and Harriet Fisher Scholarship Fund and The Alden E. Fisher Fund were established to support Frederick. The first fund provides scholarships to Hood College. The second one supports those organizations with which Mr. Fisher was closely involved–namely, Frederick Health Hospital, Hood College and YMCA of Frederick County.
