Founded by David A. Kehne and Robert A. Funk for Frederick High School or Governor Thomas Johnson High School graduates pursuing a career in education. Preference is given to students attending Towson University or University of Maryland, College Park.
The Harold D. and Elizabeth S. Kehne Scholarship Fund honors the memory of two Frederick County teachers, Harold and Elizabeth Kehne. Mrs. Kehne taught at several Frederick County schools and spent most of her career as a teacher at Rock Creek Center. Mr. Kehne taught at Middletown High School and at New Market and West Frederick Middle Schools. “My parents had strong work ethics, believing greatly in service to others and in the power of public education to help young people develop into self-sufficient citizens,” said David Kehne. “They appreciated the many opportunities they had in their work with young people. This fund honors their work and the work of their colleagues, past and present, in Frederick County.”
