Alvin F. Tesmer and John J. Hayes Veterans Memorial Fund Established at Community Foundation

FREDERICK, MD – July 20, 2020: To support the greatest needs of veterans, The Alvin F. Tesmer and John J. Hayes Veterans Memorial Fund has been established with The Community Foundation of Frederick County and becomes one of its more than 720 component funds.

Founded by John J. Hayes and Kay L. Hayes in memory of their fathers, the fund’s purpose is to provide grants to nonprofit organizations to support veterans and their immediate family including their caregivers, spouses, and children in Frederick County and Carroll County, Maryland. Preference will be given but not limited to promoting veteran wellness by supporting basic human needs, behavioral health services, and direct medical care.

Mr. and Mrs. Hayes created the fund to give back to their community. The Hayes family has a long history of military service, and Mr. and Mrs. Hayes are passionate about supporting veterans and their families. The fund in their fathers’ memory will help ensure that veterans and their families will receive vital support services for generations to come.
