Sett Naing, MD always knew he wanted to be a doctor. The 2013 Frederick High School graduate said he wants to help heal people and communities. Financial support from The Frederick High School Centennial Scholarship Fund helped him finance his undergraduate education and gain momentum to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor.
After graduating from University of Maryland in 2016, he spent a year conducting molecular research in the area of opioid addiction at the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore. Dr. Naing is currently a resident at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Dr. Naing says he plans to become a primary care physician working with an underserved population. “Coming from an immigrant family, I experienced what healthcare challenges these underserved patients face. So, I know I can use my own personal experience to empathize with these patients and find solutions to their health care barriers.”
