FREDERICK, MD – Jul. 25, 2024: Nancy Bodmer created The Bodmer-Willmann Fund with The Community Foundation of Frederick County in honor of her parents, Bill and Martha Willmann. One of more than 800 component funds of the Community Foundation, this fund will support operations at Heritage Frederick, formerly The Historical Society of Frederick County.
Nancy is passionate about history. In 1972, she and her husband bought an 1820 stone house in Buckeystown and lived there for 52 years, while also running a business for 46 years. In 1982 Nancy’s parents moved to Frederick after a military career and they began volunteering at the Historical Society. Nancy and her husband retired and moved to Braddock Heights, giving Nancy time to volunteer at Heritage Frederick, where years ago, she did the research for books she authored about Buckeystown.
“This fund is a great way to honor my parents’ legacy of volunteerism and my love for local history, while also providing longevity to an organization we are all passionate about,” Nancy says.
