FREDERICK, MD – November 1, 2021:The Mick and Sandy Mastrino Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established with The Community Foundation of Frederick County and becomes one of its more than 750 component funds.
Founded by Mrs. Mastrino through her estate provisions, the fund’s purpose is to provide scholarships to Frederick High School graduates pursuing their post-secondary educational goals. Mr. and Mrs. Mastrino were both graduates of Frederick High School. Mr. Mastrino was a sergeant with the Maryland State Police and a lifelong member of United Steam Fire Engine Company. Mrs. Mastrino graduated from Frederick Memorial School of Nursing and a majority of her career was spent working at Frederick Memorial Hospital, now Frederick Health Hospital, as the charge nurse in the Emergency Department. The scholarship fund in their names will help students follow their educational and career aspirations for generations to come.
