FREDERICK, MD – Oct. 8, 2024: The Max Well For Life Fund, established by Wes Tyeryar in memory of his son Maxwell “Max” Tyeryar, will provide grants to nonprofit organizations that support mental health needs of veterans and their immediate families. This becomes one of more than 815 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
A 2015 graduate of Urbana High School, Max attended East Carolina University where he earned a degree in criminal justice. While attending college, Max joined the Army National Guard and in 2021 fulfilled his six-year commitment of military service. During his time with the National Guard, Max was deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He earned a Sergeant’s ranking and received many service medals including the most distinguished Army Achievement Medal.
Wes described Max as a very kind and loving person, uniquely humble with his many accomplishments throughout his young life.
“Max cared deeply for others and had a gift to help everyone he knew feel better about themselves,” Wes said. “He always masked the true struggle that he was in. His positive attitude and sense of humor hid the real pain that was under his smile.”
“Our goal is to reach and help those who struggle with their path in life along with the families and friends who have been impacted by the loss of a loved one through suicide,” Wes said.
