Community Foundation Awards More than $353,000 in Impact Grants

FREDERICK, MD – Nov. 15, 2023: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is excited to announce that it awarded $353,479.95 to 48 area nonprofits in support of projects and initiatives that improve and enhance life in Frederick County.

The Community Foundation’s impact grants provide financial support to local nonprofits for projects that have meaningful and direct impact on the residents of Frederick County. As a leading source of grant funding in Frederick County, the Community Foundation supports the arts, historic preservation, agriculture, health and human services, education, cultural understanding, animal well-being, scholarships, elder care, youth programs, civic causes, and more.

Impact grant funding was provided from the following funds:

The AG-C.I.T.E. Fund:

$1,660.58 to University of Maryland for AgOlympics 2024.

 

The Animal Care Field of Interest Fund:

$1,363.93 to Animal Welfare League of Frederick County for the Friends Helping Felines foster support program.

 

The William and Hettie Ballweber Fund:

$3,046.18 to Animal Welfare League of Frederick County for the senior dog foster and adoption program.

 

The William E. Barnhart Memorial Fund:

$22,646.36 to Asian American Center of Frederick for The William E. Barnhart Memorial Fund cancer assistance project.

$11,460.00 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church for medical care for two individuals in need.

 

The Brunswick Area Fund:

$2,585.92 to SHIP of Frederick County to support Brunswick youth enrolled in the New Horizons program.

 

The Major Dan Campbell Veteran Services Fund:

$760.57 to Mission of Mercy, Inc. for medical and dental care for veterans in Maryland.

 

The Lewis I. and Catherine L. Clark Memorial Fund:

$5,000.00 to Mission of Mercy, Inc. for medical and dental care for patients with diabetes and/or heart disease.

$1,569.27 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church for medical care for an individual in need.

 

The Compofelice Family Fund for Building Trades:

$7,007.80 to FCPS Career and Technology Center for the construction trades students support fund.

 

The Mary Gregg Cornish Memorial Fund:

$3,121.05 to Frederick Health for the Community Resource Garden at Frederick Village.

 

The Dan Crozier Music Trust Fund:

$1,500.00 to Frederick County Public Schools for a new cello for the Gov. Thomas Johnson High School orchestra.

$1,010.00 to Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra for music for Symphonia and Philharmonic.

$2,240.00 to The Phoenix Foundation of Maryland for music enrichment for students in recovery.

 

The Robert L. De Lauter Youth Mentoring Fund:

$1,000.00 to I Believe in Me, Inc. to support the at-risk youth mentoring program.

The Easels in Frederick Fund:

The Educational Enrichment Field of Interest Fund:

The England Family Fund:

The Enhancing Agriculture Field of Interest Fund:

The Environmental Preservation Field of Interest Fund:

$742.25 to Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts to support the Frederick Watershed trails annual clean-up project.

$1,107.26 to YMCA of Frederick County to support the Fit and Fun program for persons with intellectual disabilities.

 

The Feline Welfare Fund:

$1,798.76 to February Star Sanctuary for the Trap-Neuter-Return/Re-home Program.

$6,551.58 to American Red Cross for disaster relief services to Frederick County residents, families and children.

 

The Frederick Jaycees Fund:

$1,467.41 to Global Necessity Corporation for accounting and client management software.

 

The Good Neighbor Fund for Seniors:

$6,573.08 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church for dental surgery and other support for an individual in need.

 

The Grove Foundation Fund:

$2,500.00 to City of Frederick, Dept. of Housing and Human Services for behavioral health services for Maryland’s military veterans.

 

The Health Fund for Frederick County Youth:

$30,000.00 to Asian American Center of Frederick to support children with catastrophic medical needs.

$2,941.50 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church to purchase a Hi-Lo activity chair for an individual in need.

$5,875.93 to Eliana’s Light for an adaptive vehicle to transport a child.

$500.00 to Frederick County Infants and Toddlers Program for rental assistance for client and $2,115.13 to purchase a pod chair for a child.

$23,920.00 to Frederick County Public Schools to support applied behavior analysis therapy for nonverbal severely autistic child.

$810.00 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church to purchase a guided hands mobile arm for an individual in need.

$5,201.74 to Each 1 Teach 1, Inc. to support the yoga-based social emotional learning program.

$2,952.58 to The Delaplaine Arts Center for the purchase of art kits.

$2,952.58 to Transformative Arts Project, Inc. for the Photovoice youth empowerment project.

$50,000.00 to Frederick Health Hospice for Camp Jamie.

$7,500.00 to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for local wish granting.

 

The Pritchett Family Foundation Fund:

$1,000.00 to Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program, Inc. for program equipment in support of the programming for youth with disabilities.

$1,000.00 to February Star Sanctuary to provide therapeutic programming for youth with disabilities.

 

The Recreation Field of Interest Fund:

$624.44 to The Banner School for the purchase of a mud kitchen for preschool, kindergarten, and primary school students.

 

The Refugee Support Fund:

$1,000.00 to Maryland Ensemble Theatre for MET Generations, an educational program in the performing arts for senior citizens.

$2,565.29 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church to purchase a power wheelchair and equipment for an individual in need.

$760.38 to YMCA of Frederick County for gallery assistant internship program.

 

The Kevin R. and Sara J. Wade Special Needs Fund:

$10,000.00 to A Mother’s Rest Charitable Respite Foundation for the Terrace Guest House caregiver respite inn.

$12,050.37 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church for housing, transportation, equipment for two individuals in need.
