Jeffrey W. Kight Scholarship Fund

Founded by Roger F. Nicodemus for Frederick County residents, preferably those interested in theater.

Jeffery W. Kight was an active member of the Fredericktowne Players, where he worked backstage rather than as an actor. While those behind the scenes often get less credit than actors and actresses, Jeffrey distinguished himself as a vital part of several theater productions. Mr. Kight was tragically killed in a car accident. Two funds honor his name and assist others interested in theater as he had been. The Jeffrey W. Kight Scholarship Fund, founded by Roger F. Nicodemus to award scholarships to Frederick County residents, particularly those with an interest in theater, and The Fredericktowne Players/Jeffrey W. Kight Scholarship Fund founded by the Fredericktowne Players for students participating in its productions.

Jeremy Magers Memorial Baseball and Softball Fund

The fund, established by Sarah Hofman in memory of her fiancé Jeremy Magers, will provide grants for baseball and softball programs in Frederick County. Jeremy was a leader and avid supporter of children of all ages who took great pride in watching them grow in the sports of baseball and softball. Coach Magers’ legacy and impact will create lasting opportunities for children to thrive in the sports he loved.

Jerry Addington Sweeney II Memorial Fund

Founded by his family for grants to Frederick Community College.

Jerry Addington Sweeney, II was born on August 29, 1976 in Washington, D.C. Jerry graduated from Grace Brethren Christian School and attended Frederick Community College and Montgomery College, where he excelled in baseball. His unexpected death from injuries sustained in an automobile accident inspired the Sweeney family to establish The Jerry Addington Sweeney, II Memorial Fund. This fund awards grants to students attending Frederick Community College.

Jessica Lee Murphy Memorial Fund

Founded by parents Don and Sue Murphy and brother Brad Murphy as a donor advised fund.

Jessica Lee Murphy was an involved student-athlete at Governor Thomas Johnson High, where she played volleyball, basketball and softball. She was a dedicated member of the community, working as a tutor at Spring Ridge Elementary and contributing as a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Miss Murphy’s family—parents Don and Sue and brother Brad—established The Jessica Lee Murphy Memorial Fund to honor the memory of their young family member, who died tragically from injuries sustained in a car accident. The memorial fund speaks to the interests and issues close to Miss Murphy’s life.
