Advocates for Homeless Families Legacy Fund

The Advocates for Homeless Families Legacy Fund was created with the purpose of empowering motivated families to overcome homelessness.

This fund will impact families through a structured two-year program of education, housing, and support services. Advocates for Homeless Families, Inc. has been impacting Frederick County families since 1988 and the fund will continue this support for many years to come.

Aimée Belle Harper Scholarship Fund

Founded by St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Utica, MD for Church members.

Aimée Bell Harper was a teacher and librarian in Montgomery County schools for over 40 years. As a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Utica, Maryland, she taught Sunday school and helped to create the Church’s beautiful library, still in use today some 40 years later. Aimée Bell Harper’s dedication to learning was legendary, and she even went so far as to leave a bequest to the Church to provide its members with scholarships. After her passing, the church created The Aimée Bell Harper Scholarship Fund to benefit graduating seniors who are members of its congregation.

Alan Linton, Jr. Scholarship Fund

Founded by parents A. Patrick and Sharon L. Linton for full-time students residing in Frederick County majoring in finance or economics.

Frederick native, Alan Linton had a gift for analyzing numbers. Mr. Linton pursued a career on Wall Street as an associate director of a financial firm. Although he lived in New York, he traveled back to Frederick on most Sundays to teach adult classes at the Frederick Church of the Brethren. He was a man committed to philanthropy and once told his parents that if people who accumulated great wealth didn’t give it away, they were failures. Unfortunately, the September 11, 2001 tragedy claimed Mr. Linton’s life. In his memory, his parents, Pat and Sharon Linton, established The Alan Linton, Jr. Scholarship Fund. The Fund awards scholarships to Frederick County residents who are studying at an accredited college or university with intentions of pursuing a career in finance or economics.

Albert Atlee and Elizabeth Lane Radcliffe Memorial Scholarship Fund

Founded by family members for graduates of Frederick High School.

Affectionately known as “Bud and Betty” throughout the community, the Frederick County natives had a passion for volunteering and were highly involved in many local organizations. Their three children, Helen Radcliffe Gregory, Albert Atlee “Lee” Radcliffe, III, and Andrew Lane “Andy” Radcliffe, established the fund to create a legacy for their parents that carries on their lifelong desire to help others. They were involved in many local organizations including All Saints Episcopal Church, Calvary United Methodist Church, The Garden Club of Frederick, The Historical Society of Frederick County and the Board of Associates at Hood College. The fund provides scholarships to graduates of Frederick High School, Bud and Betty’s alma mater.
