A history of The Community Foundation of Frederick County is now available.

Please join The Community Foundation of Frederick County on November 19 at 3 p.m. for the premiere of #NothingStopsPhilanthropy, a short and exciting video about how we, together, made great things happen in Frederick County in fiscal year 2020.

The life of William Eugene “Gene” Barnhart will have a profound impact on others with three funds created with The Community Foundation of Frederick County through his estate provisions. With Mr. Barnhart’s generosity and vision for the future, countless students will benefit from educational scholarships, people battling cancer will receive vital support services, and Broadfording Church of the Brethren will receive support for its operations.

Each year, the Community Foundation recognizes several people from Frederick County who are selfless in their contributions of time, energy, and talents because they want to make a difference in the lives of others. We are pleased to announce the 2020 Wertheimer Fellows for Excellence in Volunteerism who will be honored on November 19, 2020, at our 34th Annual Report to the Community, which is being held virtually this year.

Gregory Joseph Troy was committed to pursuing a career in law enforcement when he became ill and was diagnosed with stage four cancer. He passed away at age 30, but his memory is honored permanently with The Community Foundation of Frederick County with a fund in his name to support students pursuing careers in police work and to provide grants to support police K-9 squads.
